How Hormones Affect Human's Sexual Orientation?  

Hormones, particularly sex hormones like androgens and estrogens, significantly influence human sexual orientation. During prenatal development, the presence and levels of these hormones affect the differentiation of the brain's sexual centers (MIND). For example, higher levels of androgens can masculinize the brain, while lower levels may lead to a more feminized brain structure. These hormonal influences shape sexual preferences by affecting the brain regions associated with sexual behavior and attraction, suggesting that sexual orientation has a biological basis influenced by hormonal exposure in the womb.

Humans may change their orientation as they grow. Even after the teenage years, hormones can still affect sexual orientation, though their impact is less significant compared to prenatal development. During puberty, the surge in sex hormones such as testosterone and estrogen solidifies secondary sexual characteristics and can influence sexual drive and behaviors. However, by adulthood, sexual orientation is generally well-established. Changes in hormone levels, due to factors like medical treatments or aging, might affect libido or sexual functioning but are unlikely to alter an individual’s core sexual orientation, which is thought to be determined earlier in life.
